Sotto Support

Public beta

Need help? Open a support issue with your macOS version, Mac model, Sotto version, and the exact error. Never post an API key, device token, transcript, screenshot, or other sensitive information.

Requirements

• Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
• macOS 14 or later; macOS 14.2 or later for system-audio capture.
• Internet for the first transcription-model download and AI responses.
• About 626 MB for the default transcription model, plus cache space.

Install

1. Download the latest DMG and drag Sotto to Applications.
2. Open Sotto and complete the macOS security prompt.
3. Grant Microphone access. Grant System Audio Recording to transcribe remote participants.
4. Start an audio session from the pulse button or ⌘⇧A.
5. Press ⌘⏎ when you want a suggestion.

No remote audio in the transcript

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → System Audio Recording and enable Sotto. Quit and reopen the app. If an older unsigned beta left a stale permission entry, toggle it off and on or remove the old entry before reopening Sotto.

Microphone is silent

Check Microphone permission, confirm the expected input device in macOS Sound settings, then stop and restart the Sotto audio session. Bluetooth device changes during a call may require restarting the session.

Private Presentation Mode

Capture exclusion is best effort. Test with the same macOS version, meeting app, and sharing mode you plan to use. Share a single window where possible. Press ⌘\ to hide or show the overlay immediately.

Managed allowance ended

Open Settings → AI Access and turn off managed inference, then add your OpenAI API key under Settings → Security. The switch applies to the next request.

Updates

Open Settings → General → Check for updates, or visit the latest release page.
