What is Sotto?
Sotto is a macOS app that runs as an invisible overlay during your calls. It transcribes the conversation on your Mac in real time and, when you press ⌘⏎, gives you a context-aware answer you can use right away.
Is it really invisible on screen share?
Yes. The overlay panel is marked as non-capturable, so it's excluded from screen recording and screen-share tools like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and QuickTime. You can also hide it instantly with ⌘\.
Does my audio leave my Mac?
Transcription runs on-device with WhisperKit, so your microphone audio is processed locally and isn't uploaded. When you request an answer, the relevant transcript text is sent to your chosen AI provider to generate the response.
Do I need an API key?
Yes — Sotto uses your own AI provider key (e.g. OpenAI) to generate answers. It's stored securely in your macOS Keychain, so you keep control of your account and spend.
Which Macs are supported?
Sotto is built for Apple Silicon Macs running a recent version of macOS.
What are the main hotkeys?
⌘⏎ asks for an answer from the live conversation, ⌘\ toggles the overlay's visibility, and ⌘R starts a fresh session.
